Welcome to the Dorotha C. White Foundation Community

The Dorotha C. White Foundation Community site is a gathering place for all who have a shared passion and affinity for the plight of the elderly in America.

The Dorotha C. White Foundation is a non-profit organization established to educate the public which will result in improved quality of life for senior citizens, especially the frail elderly who are using long term care facilities either for transitional care or residential care. The Foundation's goal is to help patients journey back home, or provide the highest quality of life possible for patients if they must remain in a facility, using restorative care as the model.

The Community provides:

  • Information, counseling, advice, and resources to families and consumers in need of assistance concerning senior care issues
  • A place for families of patients to come together to share stories, common interests and concerns, and provide support to one another
  • Participation in the Adopt a Nursing Home Patient program, dedicated to improving the quality of care in nursing homes by offering patients companionship, emotional support, and socialization.
  • Blog to share and exchange comments, ideas, suggestions, make connections, and ask questions
  • Updates on issues and developments facing nursing homes and elder care

Elderpride Blog

http://elderpride.blogspot.com

This blog is about promoting productive lives in nursing homes and improving life for the elderly. The term Elderpride was coined by the founders of the Foundation to indicate what life would be like for an elderly individual if we were able to make the changes that would enable and encourage restorative care in our nation’s Long Term Care industry. By promoting productive lives in nursing homes, we are also restoring the feeling of pride and self-worth that the elderly feel about themselves.

It will take a nation to make the kind of changes that are needed to adopt Elderpride as the gold standard for the industry. Everyone has a stake in what is happening in our nursing homes, including the 77 million baby boomers, because someday we will be the elderly that we are talking about.

Join in the collective conversation and help make a difference!
